Our Wire and Cable Assemblies Capabilities
Machine Precision Wire Preparation
From bench-top equipment to fully automated wire processing machines, East West can cut, strip and terminate wire leads, ribbon cable, coax cable and jacketed cable. Our fully automatic wire processing equipment can cut, strip and terminate both ends of wire at rates up to 10,000 completed wire leads per hour. Wires ranging from 4/0 to 30awg can be processed.
Crimping
Crimping terminals to wires is a core production process at East West with millions of crimps performed annually. Terminals can be crimped using fully automatic wire processing machines, benchtop presses, pneumatic and hydraulic presses as well as hand tools.
Wire Marking
East West provides 4 methods for marking wire:
- Hand-placed vinyl labels
- Machine-wrapped vinyl labels
- Inkjet printing directly on wire insulation
- Heat-shrink labels
Wire Bundling
Tie Wraps
Tie wraps can be used to bundle wires together by manual application or by using semi-automatic equipment that, with a push of a button, dispenses, wraps and secures the tie wrap.
Shrink Tubing
East West stocks a wide variety of sizes, colors, and styles of shrink tubing. The tubing can be shrunk in calibrated ovens or by using a heat gun.
Wire Twisting
Wire twisting equipment by Stormtronics provides uniform twisting and precise twist counts. Wires are retained in the twister by gently gripping the wires inside the pressurized surgical tubing to prevent any wire damage.
Soldering/Tinning
East West can solder wires and through-hole components to PC boards. Only lead-free solder is used in East West’s Raleigh facility.
Beading
Beading consists of wrapping wires around a device or component, typically ferrite beads. East West has beaded over ten million ferrite beads in its history.
Custom Harnessing
By combining our wire and cable harness capabilities - cutting/stripping/beading/soldering/bundling – East West can create complex wire harnesses; some containing over 400 wires.
Testing
Complete electrical continuity test fixtures check for shorts, opens, or incorrect wiring.

This means you get someone on your team who specializes in this process and can help avoid any costly mistakes or delays. Here are the experts who will ensure the success of your project:
Engineers
Our engineers play a vital role in ensuring the successful creation of your cable assemblies. Our engineering staff is engaged with your project from the initial meeting to make sure it is quoted and scheduled accurately to avoid any surprises later. During that process, the engineers will also provide you any modification suggestions they have that would improve your cable assemblies’ reliability, producibility, or cost of production. This review from our team is done at no additional cost to you. We know any cable assembly manufacturer can follow a blueprint, but we want to be your partner and help you succeed.
Beyond the standard review and suggestions, our engineering experts are also available to help in the creation of your cable assemblies or can reverse engineer an existing assembly that is missing a bill of materials and design drawings.
Manufacturing
Our experts will set up and operate our state-of-the-art equipment to accurately produce your wire and cable harness assembly and ensure it meets the quality standards needed to make your finished product a success.
Procurement Specialists
The East West Procurement Specialists will coordinate with materials suppliers, or brokers for your hard-to-find parts, on your behalf. This valuable service protects you against stocking issues with your required materials. We work closely with a variety of suppliers and can coordinate inventory stocking programs to help gain significant savings in materials costs without having to pay for all that inventory upfront. Additionally, these relationships with the suppliers can be very helpful in gathering specific information about the materials that often aren’t available to smaller volume buyers.
This level of coordination can be time-consuming, but for our team, it’s a specialty that we’re happy to provide for customers like you. If your company could benefit from cost savings on materials or the expertise of someone creating an inventory program, then now is a good time to reach out.
East West Wire and Cable Harness Assembly Quality Process
Every cable produced at East West must pass a rigorous quality inspection before it leaves our facility. This has been part of a process since our Raleigh facility opened its doors in 2000 and as part of our continuous improvement process has been revised multiple times.
- Quality personnel inspects each piece of equipment or tool when it is set up for a production run.
- When appropriate, in-process inspections are made to ensure critical steps are done correctly before the assembly is fully completed.
- All products have a final inspection consisting of visual reviews and electrical testing. This final quality inspection can range from selecting an appropriate sample size to reviewing 100% of the finished product.
Beyond the day-to-day quality efforts that impact your products, East West maintains high standards of quality for ourselves too. We do this by:
- Maintaining a dedicated Quality Management System database that documents all quality corrections and training records
- Monitoring and reviewing customer satisfaction through formal survey appraisals
- Tracking quality metrics against the established goals monthly
- Conducting quarterly reviews to identify potential risks or opportunities for quality improvement
