Product Development at East West Manufacturing starts at the DFM (Design for Manufacturing) Stage. DFM is where our Engineering Team reviews your 2d/3d drawing package, Bill of Materials, and Gerber files if your product is electro-mechanical to help:
- Remove Cost
- Remove Complexity
- Redesign to achieve consistently manufactured products at quality levels you expect
- Lay out capabilities required to ensure you find a trusted Contract Manufacturer
Our Product Development teams work best when:
- A functional design has been created
- You have a proven concept and working prototype
- Determined your product can be produced
- May already be in commercialization but now need to scale
“Pumphouse has a strong and highly valued business relationship with East West… developed over the last few years… built upon trust, transparency, and give and take. We continue to work and develop new lines with East West and would praise the professionalism of the whole team both in the U.S. and Asia.”

Industrial Design vs. Product Development
Industrial Design Engineers work to take an idea and turn it into a complete drawing package. This can be a back-of-the-napkin drawing to an engineering analysis of a future product. This is normally a fee-based model where an Industrial Design company will work with you to create an engineering package that a manufacturer will require in order to produce your product or component.
Product Development and DFM services are included in your engagement with East West Manufacturing. We typically do not bill for these NRE (non-recurring engineering services). The NRE Services are simply the one-time costs to research, develop, design and test a new product prior to manufacturing. This is a service we provide for our customers.
Our process is to work with your engineers, designers, and sometimes brand managers to ask dozens of “What if” and “Why” questions to help you get the best possible product designed and built.
